The Ruby Gala

Presented by Vanderbilt Comprehensive Care Clinic at Marathon Music Works, Nashville TN

Dec 03 2022
The Ruby Gala

The Ruby Gala is an annual event to raise funds and awareness needed to support people with HIV to overcome barriers to receiving treatment, and to imprint sustainable HIV care onto the future through the recruitment training of HIV practitioners.

Up to 400 guests are expected for this year’s black tie optional event at Marathon Music Works, many of whom have made significant contributions to the art, culture, and identity of the Nashville community. The Ruby Gala embraces the diversity of Nashville and strives for inclusion among its guests.

Guests will enjoy a performance from renowned country music artists, DOZZI, a live auction, a seated dinner, and drinks. Select sponsors will be honored with a pre-gala cocktail reception, and all guests will also be invited to continue the celebration at a Late Party (separate ticketing for late party 11PM). All funds raised will support activities related to patient care at the clinic as well as the training of future HIV specialists.

Rev. Edwin C. Sanders II will also be honored with the coveted Raffanti Award at the 2022 Ruby Gala. The Raffanti Award is an annual award presented at The Vanderbilt Comprehensive Care Clinic’s (VCCC) Ruby Gala to a member of our community who has made significant contributions to the community of persons with HIV. Rev. Sanders was one of the first faith leaders in the Nashville community to openly accept and support the LGTBQ community through his ministry at the Metropolitan Interdenominational Church. Sanders founded the First Response Center in 1992 to provide services to persons living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. He was appointed to the CDC Advisory Committee on HIV and STD Prevention during the Clinton Administration, served five years on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS during the Bush Administration, and with the Obama Administration White House Office on AIDS in implementing the National AIDS Strategy. Sanders continues to serve locally on the Ryan White HIV Regional Council for the greater Nashville area.
