To Kill a Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird, is the quintessential story of racial prejudice and the struggle for justice in small-town America
To Kill a Mockingbird, the quintessential story of racial prejudice and the struggle for justice in small-town America, comes to the stage at the Manchester Arts Center beginning Oct. 14th. Director Joel Longstreth leads a strong cast including Tony Graham as Atticus Finch, Kendal Brewer as Scout, and Michael McGee as Tom Robinson. Harper Lee’s tale, adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, brings us to 1930’s Maycomb, Alabama, where a black man has been accused of raping a young white woman. As tensions rise, local attorney Atticus Finch is faced with the difficult task of shepherding his children Jem (Samuel Mai) and Scout and their friend Dill (Mason Singer) through confrontations with schoolmates and neighbors, all while providing a moral compass to the citizens of Maycomb. Will they catch Maycomb’s “usual disease”? Can Scout and the boys catch a glimpse of local recluse Boo Radley (Ian Disch)? Come view Millennium Repertory Company’s talented cast bringing these characters to life, witness how they are affected by the trial, and watch them learn to see the world through the eyes of others.
Also in the cast are Vicki Cunningham, Jeanne Edwards, Mickey Foster, Richard Stickney, Carolyn Bradford, K.O. Robinson, Allen Kittinger, Hailey Hansen, Jonathan Tucker, Tony Bristol, Gordon Matthews, Weston Foster, Ethan Willis, and Eric Frantz.
