Presenting her new figurative “paper paintings” for the first time, Regina Davidson partners with her mentor, Lisa Jennings, in this two-person exhibition. Regina is thankful to her mentor, Lisa Jennings, a nationally respected mixed media artist. “Together, Lisa and I have formed a beautiful friendship as she coaches and supports me… not a week goes by without me learning something new from her. Everyone deserves to have such a wonderful and giving mentor in his or her life.”
Locally, Lisa Jennings is represented by Leiper’s Creek Gallery. Her work is represented in collections including the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN, the Ghandi Institute for Nonviolence in Rochester, NY, the Tennessee State Museum, and the private collection of Vice President Al Gore, Jr.
Lisa dedicates her work in this exhibition to anyone who has invested their energy into a mentorship, whether they have received training or offered it. For nearly two years, she has mentored Regina Davidson and Regina’s exhibition is composed entirely of art papers hand-pigmented by her mentor. Lisa’s work is composed from her own pigmented papers as well as found objects, thread, wood, and rock. Lisa’s body of work for “True to Her Own Voice” references a particular time in her life experienced by metaphorical “hills and valleys.” Learn more about Lisa Jennings at lisajenningsart.com.
