TWISTER: 19th Annual Conference

TWISTER (Tennessee Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Research) is back!

• For 7th-12th grades

MISSION

• Inform middle and high school-aged young women about possible STEAM career paths.
• Nurture student interest in STEAM and expand their career. visions.
• Motivate young women to continue learning and growing in the areas of STEAM education
• Provide the opportunity for passionate women in STEAM to connect and share journeys, pathways, interests, and experiences 

WHY COME TO THIS CONFERENCE?

According to the American Association of University Women (AAUW), women make up only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). To combat this inequity and inspire a life-long love of STEAM, Adventure Science Center is hosting their 19th annual TWISTER Conference. This event is a one-day STEAM conference for middle and high school students who identify as female. 

Organizers want you to leave this conference feeling informed, motivated, and empowered to pursue the STEAM career of your dreams. They partner with inspiring, professional women working in a variety of STEAM careers to share details about their careers, answer questions, steer you to the right educational pathways, words of encouragement, & much more! This conference brings middle and high school students together to embrace new challenges, ignite new career interests, and foster representation in the STEAM field.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN REGISTRATION? 

• Four, 55-minute sessions that explore a variety of STEAM topics (chosen by the participant)
• Hands-on, real-life STEAM activities
• Catered Lunch 
• Connecting with like-minded middle & high school teens
• Networking with professional women in STEAM careers 
• 2 Adventure Science Center admission tickets for future use
