Veterans Day Open House

Trousdale Place will be open for self-guided tours on Veteran’s Day in honor of all Veterans.

Please join this annual Veteran’s Day Open House in honor of all Veterans! This is a free event; however, all donations received will be matched by Trousdale Place Foundation Inc. and donated to the City of Gallatin for this year’s Wreaths Across America event in the Gallatin City Cemetery. Volunteer Docents some of whom are Veterans will be stationed in various rooms. Since the focus is Veterans, during your self-guided your you’ll have an opportunity to learn about William Trousdale’s military service, and that of his father and his sons. Did you know that William Trousdale was a Veteran of four wars? Were Union Soldiers ever in the home of William Trousdale? What was going on during WWI at Trousdale Place? Learn about Trousdale Place when it served as a Welcome Center for Soldiers during the Tennessee Maneuvers in 1941.

You’ll also have an opportunity to talk to Veterans and ask them about their military service, and also have an opportunity to see: Capt. James Trousdale’s original land grant that he received for his military service during the American Revolution and the silk Donelson Bivouac Banner. It was located recently and will be on display beside the portrait of General Daniel Smith Donelson, CSA.
