Vox Grata Women's Choir in Concert | Life Passages

The Vox Grata Women’s Choir has announced its Fall Concert – Life Passages. The concert will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN.

Life Passages is a program of choral music celebrating the many stages of a woman’s life, including childhood, marriage, childbirth and aging. “Our choir is a multi-generational group of women, and as such, living these various stages of life about which we sing,” noted Vox Grata Founder and Artistic Director Jeanette MacCallum.  “There is something for everyone in this music, and by singing it together, we form connections with each other and hopefully, with our audience.” The concert explores texts with a wide range of emotion, from the humorous to the deeply poignant.

One of the concert pieces will be the USA premiere of “Elegy,” composed by Meredith Brammeier, whose compositions have been performed across the United States and Europe.  Brammeier is noted for her distinct and vibrant American style of music. She is Professor of Music at California Polytechnic State University.

Vox Grata is also pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Kelly as Associate Conductor of Vox Grata.  Dr. Kelly is Assistant Professor of Music and Choral Director at Tennessee State University.  She will co-conduct the concert.  Dr. John Semingson, Director of Music Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church – Nashville, will accompany the choir on piano.

There will be no charge for admission, as is customary for Vox Grata concerts, but all money received from an offering at the event will be donated to the Hope Clinic for Women. Vox Grata selected Hope Clinic as this concert’s beneficiary.  “We are grateful and honored to be selected as the recipient of the Vox Grata concert proceeds, which will go directly to help us provide our clients with pregnancy services, women’s wellness services such as annual exams, and counseling services,” said Renee Rizzo, CEO/President of Hope Clinic for Women.
