Waffle Shop Fundraiser
Please note, this event has expired.
The Waffle Shop began in 1925 as a fundraiser for The Downtown Presbyterian Church and evolved into a beloved holiday tradition. In the early days when downtown was the center of Nashville’s retail scene, the Waffle Shop marked the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Like everything else during this year’s coronavirus pandemic, Waffle Shop has adjusted to the times and gone virtual.
Beginning on November 1 and running for just a few weeks until November 22, the church will sell online Waffle Shop tickets.
Each $10 ticket includes:
- A commemorative, eco-friendly Swedish dishcloth, a single dishcloth can replace up to 17 rolls of paper towels!
- The opportunity to shop at the church’s homemade bake sale.
- A link to watch this year’s Waffle Shop video, which will be shared on December 3rd.
Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of Waffle Shop tickets and baked goods will help fund the church’s community outreach program, assisting less-advantaged members of the community. To purchase a ticket or for more information, go to the church’s website or Downtown Presbyterian Church Facebook page.
About The Downtown Presbyterian Church Outreach Program:
As a downtown congregation, The Downtown Presbyterian Church Outreach Program believes God has called them to reach out into the surrounding community and support Nashville’s most vulnerable and marginalized residents.
Since 2006 Downtown Presbyterian Church members and friends have served a free weekly meal to the homeless and urban poor in their local community. Due to the current pandemic, and out of an abundance of caution, in March 2020 they switched from an indoor sit-down meal to an outdoor to-go meal distribution. Their clothing closet is distributing very limited items (soap and other toiletries, face masks, hats and gloves, etc.) at this time.
