Wildlife Wednesdays

Middle & high schoolers! Come get a sneak peek behind the scenes of Bledsoe Creek State Park.

Middle and high school students that are virtual or homeschooling will meet weekly to spend time with peers in the outdoors. Each week they’ll get a sneak peek at what happens behind the scenes at Bledsoe Creek State Park.

Liability waiver is required for student to participate. Please return to ashlee.mcdaniel@tn.gov. All participants must wear a mask when social distance cannot be maintained between households.

What to expect:
2pm – Arrive at Shelter 2, sit max 2 students per picnic table
2:30  – Guest speaker or facility tour
3:30 – Supervised free time with water and snacks at Shelter 2 until 4pm departure

They’ll be covering search & rescue dog training, iNaturalist plant cataloging, feral cat program, tree ID, pollinator garden preparation, snakes of Tennessee, and birds of prey. Students will contribute to the Go Green initiative & make connections with guest speakers across many organizations including Master Gardeners, Sumner Spay & Neuter Alliance and Tennessee State Park rangers.

Shelter 2 is located on Racoon Creek Lane near a large playground, outdoor classroom and accessible trail system. While this program is for ages 11+ guardians can enjoy these facilities with younger children while older students participate in Wildlife Wednesdays.
