Wilson County Fair-Tennessee State Fair
When agricultural fair season rolls around this year, the Tennessee State Fair will make history by taking place in conjunction with the Wilson County Fair.
The fair dates will be August 12-21 at the James E. Ward Agriculture Center with the fair now operating for ten days. The 2021 theme will be “Honoring Hometown Heroes.”
The now 10-day Fair will open on Thursday, August 12, at 5pm and run through Saturday, August 21. The theme celebrates and pays tribute to the many heroes who have done so much this past year. Through the tornadoes that hit middle Tennessee in March and the pandemic that changed everyone’s lives this past year, the fair will honor those who came to the rescue in so many ways through this unprecedented year.
With eight stages of entertainment during the 10 days of the Fair, every night will be filled with so many things to see and do. Come out and listen to the Bluegrass and country music, with a special concert featuring The Frontmen with Janelle Arthur, Grammy Award Winner and Grand Ole Opry Legend, Jeannie Seely with Erin Enderlin, clogging and square dancing competitions, pageants from the Doll Parade to Ms. Senior along with the Fairest of the Fair, hypnotists and much more.
There’s so much to see and do that you can’t see it all in one visit!
As Tennessee’s Big County Fair and the largest Fair in Tennessee, the Fair’s focus remains family fun, entertainment and agriculture experiences for all Fairgoers. Wilson County Promotions Volunteers submitted a proposal to add the Tennessee State Fair to the award winning Wilson County Fair. The Volunteers are exploring all opportunities to make more improvements to the Fairgrounds and for Wilson County. After much thought and discussion, it is much better to add the State Fair to the Wilson County Fair than for the State Fair to happen at a different time on the same fairgrounds or even take place in close proximity to the Wilson County Fair Wilson County Promotions will be producing and managing the Tennessee State Fair and the Wilson County Fair as one Fair at the same time. They will continue to focus on showcasing Wilson County. Competitions that have been limited to Wilson County will continue. There are no alcoholic beverages currently sold at the Wilson County Fair and no plans to ever do this. Their main focus is on a true family fun experience.
Wilson County Promotions Board President Randall Clemons says the agriculture commodity focus will be “Year of Beef.” The Fair’s roots and existence remain as an agriculture fair. There are over 150 events that take place during the 10-day fair and volunteers are making plans to incorporate the theme in the many exhibits and competitions during the Fair.
The 2021 Fair will again be presented by Mid-South Ford.
The volunteers invite everyone to bring their family and friends to the Fair. They’re working hard to make the largest Fair in the state of Tennessee the best one ever.
