Laura, a native of New York, moved to Nashville in 2014. She has attended Nashville Fashion Week for two years now and has a unique talent of incorporating glam with vintage styles. For the 2019 Nashville Fashion Week, she went for a Studio 54 and disco look and feel. Laura said, “there are so many great design elements that were lost from that era. I’m just trying to bring that back but re-interpret it for a more modern audience.”
By mixing glam and vintage together, Laura stated in an interview that she wants women to feel “on top of the world and cannot be stopped!”
What do you love about participating in Nashville Fashion Week?
There are so many large markets doing fashion weeks and as a designer and emerging designer you get lost in those. But Nashville really responds with a passion to people that put themselves out there. The support that I’ve seen in a short amount of time has really knocked me off my feet. I couldn’t be more grateful for it!
What is one of your favorite pieces from your collection showcased tonight?
My finale look was really great because initially it was supposed to be a suit. However when we tucked it in and put it all together, it looked more like a jumpsuit. I kinda like the play on it, so it could be one piece, but if you want to wear it as two, then you can.
Where can Nashvillians or visitors to the area find your designs in the city?
We have a studio in the Gulch in Cannery Row in the old Big Red Lofts. You just call and make an appointment!
