Tis’ the Season, and Nashville is celebrating with a variety of light displays throughout the month of December. The options are plentiful from the world-famous lights at Gaylord Opryland to beautifully lit neighborhoods. We’ve compiled a list of some of Nashville’s oldest, newest, and brightest Holiday light displays. You’re sure to get in the Holiday Spirit when checking these out!
Holiday Lights Carriage Tours
The Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood Association’s fourth annual Holiday Lights Carriage Tours take place on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6 in the heart of the historic neighborhood. The event will feature horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping through the district known for gracious vintage homes and stunning displays of holiday lights. New this year – a more personal carriage added on the streets during the Carriage Tours. It’s the sporty Regal Ride, which holds up to six people and offers a broader view and is perfect for small groups. Can’t make the Carriage Tours? The Hillsboro-West End neighborhood is always a great place to stroll or drive through in December if you’re looking to soak in a beautifully decorated neighborhood.
Christmas Tree Lighting
Mayor Megan Barry invites the community to attend the Metro Nashville Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 4 from 6:00pm-7:00pm. This will be a fun, family-friendly event with food, hot beverages, and live music!
Holiday Lights at Cheekwood
The inaugural Holiday LIGHTS transforms Cheekwood’s magnificent gardens, manicured grounds and rolling hills into an enchanting holiday retreat. Three quarters of a million twinkling lights extend from Cheekwood’s historic Mansion out into the gardens, setting the grounds aglow with elegant exhibits, dazzling views and themed displays. In addition to 750,000 lights spanning the estate, Holiday LIGHTS also features live reindeer, s’mores pits, holiday carolers, family photo opportunities and cash bars stocked with wine, beer and hot chocolate – all strategically placed along the trail. Also be sure to check out Holiday at Cheekwood for more Holiday happenings such as cookie decorating, Santa visits and more. Holiday lights at Cheekwood are open from 5:00pm-10:00pm through January 3.
Jellystone Dancing Lights
For the 6th year in a row the folks at Jellystone Park™ host one of the most amazing drive thru light shows you will ever see. The Big 98 WSIX is proud to bring new huge displays, added to the hundreds of thousands of LED Christmas lights dancing to some rocking Christmas tunes coming through your very own car radio. The show this year will feature dozens of displays, some awesome new Christmas tunes and, of course, Fox 17’s Santa’s Village. Open Nightly from 5:00pm-10:00pm until January 4
Gaylord Opryland’s A Country Christmas

Grand’s Holiday Lights Tour
If you are looking to see the Jellystone Dancing Lights in style, Grand Avenue can help. Enjoy an all new holiday lights tour like none other with Grand Avenue this season. Twinkling lights, steaming cider and holiday memories await! Choose from two Nashville routes which we customize for your group. Take a trip through The Dancing Lights at Jellystone Park on the NORTH POLE route, or journey to the SOUTH POLE to see beautifully decorated homes in Brentwood and Franklin, Tennessee.
Live Drive Thru Nativity Scene
Rock Springs Church will be offering a free live Drive Thru Nativity Scene on December 18 and 19 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. There will be free hot chocolate provided!
Sunnyside Drive Christmas Light Display
This beautiful display in Brentwood is lit in memory of BJ Minneci (1976 – 1993). Everything is free, but donations are accepted for the Shrine Children’s Hospitals. The lights will be on display from Thanksgiving Day to New Years Day nightly from 5:00p-10:00pm (10:30 Christmas Week).
28th Annual Holiday Lights Contest
Think you have the most Christmas spirit on your street? The Holiday Lights Contest is open to all Davidson County residents. Lights must be up between December 3 and December 6 for judging. Participants are judged on creativity, execution, and their ability to create a holiday display that incorporates a green theme with environmental elements such as LED lights. The contest is sponsored by Mayor Megan Barry, Metro Public Works, Metro Beautification and Environment Commission, NES and NewsChannel 5.
