Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism and other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.
It’s their hope that the Nashville Humanist Meetup group will be a place where humanists in the Greater Nashville Area will gather together for meaningful conversation, and make new friends with like-minded people who embrace, live and spread the values of humanism.
Whether you are a newcomer to humanism or well-established humanist, their group is a safe space for everyone to be heard, share their respective journeys, and stimulate thoughtful and vigorous thinking, reflection and action as it relates to being a humanist in our city and world.
If this group appeals to you they hope you become a member, and you will notice that we meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. However, their hope is that the Nashville Humanist Meetup will not just be a long list of names and simply “meetings.” They invite each person to play an active role in building, growing and mobilizing our presence and influence in Nashville, and they want to be a genuine and authentic community of humanists who encourage and support one another, and live our human values in friendship and solidarity with one another.
Though they have a leadership team that works together to organize, facilitate and administrate various facets of our group, the Nashville Humanist Meetup is an all-hands-on-deck venture. Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas about making this an awesome group, and don’t be shy about letting them know the interests, skills, experience, resources or connections you have that could aid their presence and mission in Nashville.
