Battle of Franklin Trust

The Battle of Franklin Trust is dedicated to a better understanding of the five bloodiest hours of the American Civil War. Two historic landmarks witnessed the carnage first hand: The Carter House and Carnton. The Battle of Franklin Trust is a 501(c)(3) management corporation acting on behalf of Franklin’s battlefield sites to contribute to a greater understanding and enrich the visitor experience of the November 30, 1864 battle. It’s organized for the charitable and educational purposes of preserving, restoring, maintaining and interpreting the properties, artifacts and documents related to the battle so as to preserve an important part of the nation’s history. The mission of The Battle of Franklin Trust is to preserve, understand, and interpret the story of a people forever impacted by the American Civil War. The Battle of Franklin Trust manages two historic sites in Franklin, Tennessee, that witnessed the 1864 Battle of Franklin: Carter House and Carnton. Belcourt Theatre

Belmont University is a student-centered Christian community providing an academically challenging education that empowers men and women of diverse backgrounds to engage and transform the world with disciplined intelligence, compassion, courage and faith. Belmont is among the fastest growing Christian universities in the nation with more than 5,900 students hailing from every state and 25 countries. Since 2000, enrollment has risen from just under 3,000 to 5,936 students for 2010-11, marking an increase of 99 percent. As enrollment steadily increases, so does the quality and diversity of each new class. Incoming 2010-11 freshmen represented 44 states and four foreign countries and scored an average of 26 on the ACT. In the annual U.S. News & World Report ranking of America’s best colleges and universities, Belmont was cited for the third year in a row as a Top School to Watch and was ranked fifth in the Regional Universities South category, the highest ranking for the university to date. Once again, Belmont was also the highest ranked university in Tennessee in this category and was praised for its commitment to undergraduate teaching and the strength of its learning communities.

Blooming Arts Festival

Set in the small, inviting town of Linden, Tennessee, the Blooming Arts Festival takes place over a two day period: in about the third week of March on Friday 12:00pm til 7:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am till 7:00pm. Attendance is free, and all members of the public are invited to attend this highly popular event. Always expanding, the event is expected to host over 150 regional and local artisans and vendors. The exhibiters are known for their engaging fine arts as well as their standout craftsmanship, which ranges from quality woodwork to carefully crafted art glass and other fine crafts. These artisans and vendors will be showcasing their fine art and crafts in several interactive exhibitions, such as chainsaw carving, live dance performances, and painting exhibits. For the food lovers among us, local eateries and street vendors will offer ample opportunities for indulging in all types of savory cuisine. The festival will also feature multiple events and venues for family-friendly entertainment, including activities for the kids, a Quilt Show to showcase our area’s artistic talent, and exhibitions of “homemade and handmade” goods that reflect local and regional culture. Our festival site is a beautiful 700-acre farm, located in Manchester, TN, about 60 miles southeast of Nashville and 40 miles northwest of Chattanooga. Once a year, our little farm becomes Tennessee’s 7th largest city basically overnight. This can mean traffic, lots of it, when you arrive at the festival site. So consider carpooling. It helps reduce traffic, saves money on gas and the earth will love you.

Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival

In 1995 Scarritt-Bennett Center, a Nashville conference, retreat, and education center recognized a need within the rapidly growing and changing Nashville community. The population was becoming more diversified and people were in need of ways to understand and appreciate each other’s differences. The Celebration of Cultures was established to provide an avenue for different cultures to share their traditions through music, dance, activities, food, and crafts. The event, held each summer on the grounds of Scarritt-Bennett Center initially attracted around 2500 people. Over time the popularity of the event grew and outgrew the facilities of SBC. In 2006, a partnership was formed with Scarritt-Bennett Center and Nashville Metro Parks and the festival expanded and moved to its new location at Centennial Park, becoming an annual October event. The festival continued to grow over the next few years and last year saw more than 40,000 people in attendance. And, after 14 years, Scarritt-Bennett Center passed the torch of leadership exclusively over to Nashville Metro Parks. The focus and mission of the festival remains the same, encompassing over 50 cultures that live in Nashville through dance, music, visual arts, a children’s area, a Teens United Area, an educational Global Village, and exotic food samplings. The event provides an experiential opportunity for Nashvillians to meet their neighbor and share traditions. It encourages dialogue and promotes the cross-cultural awareness and understanding so necessary in our communities. With the transition of leadership a new name, Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival, was adopted to reflect the renewed focus of honoring the diversity of cultures that comprise the City of Nashville. In addition, a non-profit was formed, Celebrate Nashville, Inc., with the sole purpose of establishing the festival as a permanent and sustainable community event. Metro Parks remains the Presenting Leadership and continues to provide resources and support for the festival.

Center for Sustainable Stewardship

The Center for Sustainable Stewardship (CSS) is a nonprofit conference, retreat and natural preserve in Franklin, Tennessee where visitors can unplug, enjoy the natural beauty of Big East Fork Valley, clear their minds, and increase their creativity. We serve as stewards of our precious natural environment and are active in conservation and regenerative efforts. We believe biodiversity has intrinsic worth and so protect the land, water, and creatures of the Big East Fork watershed. We encourage visitors to experience, explore, and appreciate the natural world by active engagement with the outdoors. Our vision is that through a strengthened connection with nature, people can experience increased wellness in mind and body. The property, located at 5375 Big East Fork Rd, Franklin, Tennessee, is only 20 minutes from downtown Franklin but lies directly in the path of the most rapidly growing areas of Tennessee and the United States. To protect the property for generations and to preserve its natural beauty, the development rights of over 1,400 acres of old growth wooded habitat were donated and is now a conservation easement to the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation (TENN Green), a statewide non-profit land trust. Along with forested areas, the property backs to the historic Natchez Trace Parkway, connecting a trail network at Williamson County’s Timberland Park and contains over 9,000 linear feet of streams that drain into the South Harpeth River. The conservation easement provides a refuge for wildlife, protects biodiversity in perpetuity, and guarantees the preservation of this sacred space. The Global Education Center is a nonprofit arts education center for students, teachers and the community in the area of multicultural, anti-bias education. Using the arts as a pathway to understanding the various cultural, ethnic and religious groups residing in the community, the Center’s staff and teaching and performing artists present ongoing classes, workshops, lecture-demonstrations and performances to promote cross-cultural understanding and respect. The overall goal is to highlight the commonalties of all people while creating experiences in the arts that aid in dispelling myths, dismantling stereotypes and unlearning biases.

Jack Davis has been managing large scale events for over 16 years. Grand Master Fiddler Championship

Since 1972, the Grand Masters has been recognized as the premier competition of its kind in the United States. They remain loyal to their heritage and since 2004 have held IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Their commitment to our mission statement, support from the community, and support from fans like you have secured this event for future generations to enjoy. Their primary goal is to engage a younger and more diverse audience in order to preserve fiddle music. For years, the average age of the Top 10 contestants was over 40 and mostly men. Today, it’s almost evenly split between men and women under the age of 22, and the girls have won the majority of the titles since 2005. Their success will always be measured by our effectiveness to engage the next generation.
