Better Decisions

Better Decisions Our mission is to teach and foster decision-making and life-planning skills among women who are incarcerated, and others expressing interest, by means of a structured curriculum delivered by trained volunteers. The ultimate goal is to reduce recidivism among female offenders and to break the inter-generational cycle of crime by teaching women (most of whom are mothers) how to gain more control over their lives by setting goals, deciding rather than reacting, and making and sticking to concrete plans for changing their attitudes and behaviors. Black Vision Collective

BLVC is a Black-led, Queer and Trans centering organization whose mission is to organize powerful, connected Black communities and dismantle systems of violence. We do this through building strategic campaigns, investing in Black leadership, and engaging in cultural and narrative organizing. Since 2017, Black Visions Collective, has been putting into practice the lessons learned from organizations before them in order to shape a political home for Black people across Minnesota. They aim to center their work in healing and transformative justice principles, intentionally develop their organization's core “DNA” to ensure sustainability, and develop Minnesota’s emerging Black leadership to lead powerful campaigns. By building movements from the ground up with an integrated model, they are creating the conditions for long term success and transformation. Black Visions Collective envisions a world in which ALL Black Lives Matter. They use the guidance and brilliance of their ancestors as well as the teachings of their own experiences to pursue their commitment to dismantling systems of oppression and violence. Blakemore Children's Center

Originally named the Mattye Jones Child Care Center, it opened in August 1976 as a community program of Blakemore United Methodist Church. In August 1997, Blakemore Children’s Center underwent a significant transformation of purpose and program and became a multi-age, inclusive environment where each child is valued as an individual and learning occurs through developmentally appropriate experiences. BCC attained accreditation through The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and achieved the highest (3-star) rating by the Tennessee Department of Human Services. In July 2008, the Maxine Cassety Infant/Toddler Program began serving children ages 6 weeks to 30 months in a unique multi-age environment. Bledsoe's Lick Historical Association/Bledsoe's Fort Historical Park

Since March 10, 1970, the Bledsoe's Lick Historical Association has pursued the exciting and challenging task of integrating the preservation of important archaeological and historic sites with the growth, progress and economic development of Sumner County. Named for the mineral springs and licks so prominent in regional history and prehistory, in 1992 the Association expanded its preservation efforts to include the development of Bledsoe's Fort Historical Park: a nearly 80-acre county park which includes: the archaeological location of Isaac Bledsoe's 1780 fort and the restored Nathanial Parker cabin. Blooming Arts Festival

Set in the small, inviting town of Linden, Tennessee, the Blooming Arts Festival takes place over a two day period: in about the third week of March on Friday 12:00pm til 7:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am till 7:00pm. Attendance is free, and all members of the public are invited to attend this highly popular event. Always expanding, the event is expected to host over 150 regional and local artisans and vendors. The exhibiters are known for their engaging fine arts as well as their standout craftsmanship, which ranges from quality woodwork to carefully crafted art glass and other fine crafts. These artisans and vendors will be showcasing their fine art and crafts in several interactive exhibitions, such as chainsaw carving, live dance performances, and painting exhibits. For the food lovers among us, local eateries and street vendors will offer ample opportunities for indulging in all types of savory cuisine. The festival will also feature multiple events and venues for family-friendly entertainment, including activities for the kids, a Quilt Show to showcase our area’s artistic talent, and exhibitions of “homemade and handmade” goods that reflect local and regional culture. Bonaparte's Retreat

Founded in 2004 by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris, Bonaparte's Retreat is named for one of Harris's own beloved dogs. Her constant companion for 10 years on the road, Harris says, "Once you have the experience of having a dog on the road with you, you don't realize how lonely you've been without one." When Bonaparte died suddenly, Harris was heartbroken, but her personal loss became the genesis of something remarkable. To honor the memory of her dear companion, Harris established Bonaparte's Retreat with the goal of rescuing shelter dogs and adopting them into forever homes. To this day, Bonaparte's Retreat continues to save dogs most in need at Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control and at municipal shelters in surrounding counties. Source: website

Bravo Creative Arts Center

Bravo is a non-profit 501(c)3 arts education organization dedicated to providing meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in the performing arts. Each season, Bravo produces high quality, affordable, family-oriented theatre for the mid-state area by offering fully staged musical productions at The Ensworth Theater and The Father Ryan Center For the Arts. Bravo also offers group and private instruction in dance, music, and drama at it's Hillsboro Road studio. Since Bravo’s 2006 founding, well over a thousand Nashville area children and teens have been served in the areas of improv, music, and theatre. The opportunities at Bravo are open to all youth regardless of experience, and a typical Bravo cast includes youth from at least 40 different schools. Although Bravo works with many talented youth, Bravo’s mission is not to create the next "star." It’s more about working with a child who lacks confidence and creating a safe, nurturing environment that allows him/her to gain the confidence needed to walk to center stage and deliver a line. It’s about giving creative youth the opportunity to work as a team to put together a show and then giving them the opportunity to perform for an audience where their gifts, talents, and hard work can be appreciated. This builds self-confidence that carries over into every aspect of the child's life.
