The Violin Shop

Fred Carpenter opened The Violin Shop in 1988 starting in a spare bedroom of his home, then moving into the corner of a friend’s guitar shop, and in 1993 into his own retail space in the Bellevue area of West Nashville where it remained for the next 20 years. As the business continued to grow, it became "the place to go" for fiddlers and strings players both near and far. In 2005, a performance room was added for concerts, workshops and jam sessions, which led to the highly acclaimed Fiddle Masters Concert Series tapings, released on DVD in 3 volumes. Realizing the need to be more centrally located to accommodate its clientele, in 2013 The Violin Shop relocated to 2504 Franklin Pike, near downtown and Music Row. This beautifully renovated building features an inviting gallery of well over 100 instruments and bows, all beautifully displayed, and a timeless collection of black and white portraits of celebrated fiddlers by photographer Jim McGuire. You’ll also find a complete line of strings, cases and accessories, as well as an on-site repair shop. Much has changed since The Violin Shop opened its doors nearly 30 years ago, yet Carpenter recognizes that loyalty to his business has remained intact. Thistle Farms

Thistle Farms is a powerful community of women who have survived prostitution, trafficking and addiction. We employ more than 50 survivors through our social enterprises which include a natural body care company, Thistle Stop Cafe, paper and sewing studio, and global marketplace called Shared Trade. Started in 1997 by Rev. Becca Stevens under the name Magdalene, Thistle Farms includes a two-year residential program and advocacy services for up to 700 women yearly. We provide education and training annually through speaking events and immersion workshops. Thistle Farms believes that in the end, love is the most powerful force for change in the world.

They even had a couple of celebrities come out to pay them a visit! It sure isn't easy and it's not always fun. At the end of the day, they know they are following the Lord's plan for their lives. There have been and continue to be ups and downs, good and bad, & highs and lows. The Bright Green Gift Shop Faces Nolensville Road. Our outdoor Garden Saloon is in a relaxing backyard setting. Live music is played every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 7:30-10 pm. While enjoying the music and food truck play a game of Putt-Putt golf on our 27-hole course. The Putt-Putt Golf Course is open daily and even has LED balls for night time glow in the dark games! Locations along the stroll will be available in four-hour waves. You have complete autonomy to plan your day and visit the venues on your own time. Think of Downtown Nashville as your own theme park! If there's a long line at one ride, you can visit another attraction and go back to the one you skipped at your leisure. Everyone will check-in at registration and receive an All Access Pass, which allows you access to the various venues and includes a map of the stroll locations. Then you'll be on your way! As you're walking from one destination to the other, take in the sites!
