Gallatin Parks & Recreation is a department of the City of Gallatin and it encompasses the Tommy Garrott Aquatics Facility, Gallatin Civic Center, Long Hollow Golf Course, the Gallatin Cemetery, Gallatin’s Greenway and Gallatin’s five city parks. The Department’s mission is to enhance resident’s quality of life, bolster the area’s feeling of community and help attract tourism, business and new residents.

Goodpasture Christian School

Harpeth Bike Club

The Harpeth Bike Club (HBC) exists to promote cycling in the greater Nashville area. Formed in 1997, the club has over 500 members ranging from casual cyclist to ultra rider united in sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport. We ride year-round with peak season from April to October. Scheduled rides are offered on weekends, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Rides range from 15 to 100 miles in distance and vary in terrain and speed, with no-drop groups riding at varying paces. Most rides have a ride leader that assures no one is left behind. Harrison Bay State Park

Harrison Bay State Park is a 1,200 acre park with approximately 40 miles of Chickamauga Lake shoreline, and was originally developed as a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) recreation area in the 1930s. Its name is derived from a large bay at the main channel of the Tennessee River that covers the old town of Harrison, and the last Cherokee Campground. The parklands are historically significant because the Cherokee Campground consisted of three villages which were ruled by one of the last great Cherokee Chieftains. Harrison Bay became the first Tennessee State Park in 1937. This beautiful wooded park is a haven for campers, golfers, boaters and fishermen, as well as picnickers and other day-use visitors from Chattanooga and the surrounding tri-state area. It has one of the most complete marina facilities available on any of the TVA lakes and all types of boats and water recreation vehicles are allowed at the park. Camping is a popular activity at Harrison Bay State Park. There are 128 RV campsites with water and electrical hookups and a limited number can accommodate RV’s up to 65 ft. There are also 21 primitive tent only campsites. The Bear Trace Golf Course at Harrison Bay, a Jack Nicklaus designed course, is characterized by the presence of both water and heavily-wooded land with soaring pine and hardwood trees. This popular course is often noted as “the best natural piece of land for a golf course” and a reflection of the traditional Jack Nicklaus emphasis on overall integrity and playability for golfers of all ability. The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay is also one of the most highly recognized environmentally sensitive courses in the nation. It is certified by Audubon International for its conservation and habitat practices and also registered as the first Groundwater Guardian Green Site in Tennessee. Harrison Bay State Park offers a 4.5 mile loop bike trail. The trail features nice uphill climbs with some fast downhill opportunities as well. The trail is fun and rated for all abilities. Historic Rugby, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Organization and living Victorian village, originally founded in 1880 as the Rugby colony by British author Thomas Hughes, with the organization established in 1966 to preserve, protect, and interpret the man-made and natural historic resources and heritage of the British Isles and of Appalachia. We offer an award-winning documentary, "The Power of a Dream," before one of our guides walks you back into history through four original historic buildings, telling the stories of inhabitants and providing informational commentary on the village through its founding up to the current community. (The movie is free.) In addition to historical tours, you’ll find maps of the village & Rugby State Natural Area trails, activities within the area, and popular Appalachian destinations, including the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area & its trails within Rugby. Indian Mountain State Park

Indian Mountain State Park is a multi-use facility in Campbell County near Tennessee's northern border. Visitors to the 203-acre park enjoy fishing at the lake, picnicking, camping, and hiking on the three trails. Although the park's name would indicate that it is located on a mountain, it is actually located at the base of the mountain. Park History The city of Jellico originally acquired the park in the late 1960s through a federal open space grant under provisions of the 1961 Federal Housing Act. Utilizing grants from the state of Tennessee, the Appalachian Regional Commission, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the park was developed as a reclamation project in which abandoned strip mining pits were converted to recreational use. As a reclaimed surface mine, Indian Mountain exhibits a beneficial use that can be made of the land after such intensive alterations as those inherent in surface mining. Iroquois Steeplechase

Traditionally held on the second Saturday of May at Nashville’s Percy Warner Park, the Iroquois Steeplechase is the premiere spring race in American steeplechasing and Music City’s traditional rite of spring — typically attracting more than 25,000 spectators. The Iroquois has run continuously since 1941, only taking one year off during World War II and in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Johnsonville State Historic Park is a day-use park named for former President Andrew Johnson who also served as the Union Military Governor of Tennessee during the Civil War. This 1,075-acre park located in Humphreys County commemorates the site of the Johnsonville Depot, the Battle of Johnsonville and the historic town site of Johnsonville that existed from 1864-1944 prior to the formation of Kentucky Lake. Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail State Park

The Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail State Park, a Tennessee scenic hiking trail, became Tennessee’s 53rd state park in 1998. It is Tennessee’s first linear park, cutting through 11 Tennessee counties. In 2002, the park was renamed for Justin P. Wilson in honor of his work to help make the vision of the Cumberland Trail a reality. Wilson was Tennessee’s Deputy Governor from 1996-2003 and currently serves as the state’s Comptroller. The Cumberland Trail follows a line of pristine high ridges and deep gorges lying along Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau. The state is continuing to partner with the Cumberland Trails Conference (CTC), an associate organization of the Tennessee Trails Association, and other volunteers to solicit public and private support for the acquisition of additional land along the trail. Once completed, the hiking trail will extend 282 miles from Cumberland Gap, on the Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky border to the Tennessee River Gorge, on the Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia border. At Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, the Cumberland Trail joins the National Park Trail System and Kentucky’s Pine Mountain Trail. The Cumberland Trail wanders among the remnants of the Cumberland Mountains that once rose as high as the Rockies. The trail represented a barrier to all who dared push through storied gaps westward onto and over the Cumberland Plateau. It now provides a linkage north to south, forming natural connections and opportunities for scenic vistas and curious geological formations. Several hiking trail segments, totaling more than 185 miles, are now complete and ready to hike. The Cumberland Trail is still under construction but will extend over 330 miles when complete. Of the proposed 330+ miles of trail, approximately 185 miles and 40 trailheads are open for public use. Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park

Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park is 2,076 acres of scenic wilderness in Unicoi County, in the southern Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. The park is approximately 30 minutes from both Johnson City and Asheville, N.C., and 10 miles from Erwin, the county seat. Part of the Rocky Fork watershed, the land was designated a Tennessee State Park in October 2012, but wasn't officially opened and staffed until May 2015. As of January 2019, Rocky Fork State Park has been named after Senator Lamar Alexander. Please note: Rocky Fork Road is a narrow, one-lane, paved road with pull-offs along the side. The parking area is small with limited spaces, a portable toilet, and bear-resistant trash and recycling (plastic and aluminum) bins. Please do not block the gate. Long Hunter State Park

The 2,600 acres which make up this area became a state park in 1974 and has four sections, Couchville, Baker’s Grove, Bryant Grove and Sellars Farm. Long Hunter State Park offers a variety of recreational activities including fishing and hiking and has two boat launch ramps on J. Percy Priest Lake, a group camp, a backcountry campsite, meeting facility and a visitor center. The more than 20 miles of hiking trails provide a variety of terrain and habitats and range from pleasant strolls to longer jaunts for the more adventurous. Trails include a self-guided, paved arboretum trail and the five and a half -mile Volunteer Trail that follows the lakeshore. Please note their Pet Policy: No pets are allowed in either Bryant's Grove Recreational Area nor Area 2 of the Couchville Recreation Area. Pets are not permitted on the following trails: Bryant Grove Trail, Couchville Lake Trail and the Nature Loop Trail. Pets on leashes are permitted on all of the other trails. Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park

Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park is a 12,539-acre hardwood bottomland area bordering the mighty Mississippi River 13 miles north of Memphis featuring mature Bald Cypress and Tupelo swamp. Most of the facilities are on top of the majestic Chickasaw Bluffs that rise from the bottomlands and are covered with large oaks, American beech, hickory and sweet gum. There are 10 state Champion Trees and two National Champion Trees as well as endangered and protected plants. There are a variety of camping opportunities throughout the park. Meeman-Shelby Forest has six two-bedroom vacation cabins situated along the Shore of Poplar Tree Lake surrounded by woods. The cabins are ideal for family vacations or fishing parties and sleep up to six people in each. The park campground provides 49 campsites equipped with table, grill, electrical and water hookups. Montgomery Bell State Park

Montgomery Bell State Park is seven miles east of Dickson in Dickson County. The park was once the center of the iron industry in Middle Tennessee. The park’s namesake, Montgomery Bell, formed one of the largest iron industries in Tennessee. Iron was once thought to be more valuable than gold and was a very lucrative industry at the time. Montgomery Bell State Park is equipped with a conference center that can host up to 500 people. The onsite restaurant is open every day and available to cater events. Within the center, the inn offers 120 rooms and five suites. The park also has eight environmentally-friendly modern cabins available for rent. The park’s campground can accommodate campers up to 60 feet on most electrical sites. The campground has on-site sewer at 40 sites and can accommodate small pop-up campers and large RVs. There are 94 campsites available at the park. There are many activities to try at the park. Most notably, they are hiking, biking, golf, and fishing. There are nearly 19 miles of trails throughout the park with one that follows the circumference of the park. The Par 72, 18-hole golf course is a local treasure. The clubhouse, with a snack bar and pro shop, also has a furnished patio that can be reserved for events. There are three lakes within Montgomery Bell State Park for fishing and boating. Paddleboats and kayaks are available for rent at the park through PaddleEZ. Park Hours: Open 24 Hours Frank G. Mousetail Landing State Park

This 1,247-acre area is located on the east banks of the Tennessee River. Tradition has it that Mousetail Landing received its name during the Civil War period when one of the area’s tanning companies caught fire. The exodus of mice fleeing the burning tannery was so profuse that the area in proximity of the park became known as Mousetail Landing. With Mousetail Landing State Park located on the Tennessee River, fishing is a popular activity. Fishing is permitted anywhere you can reach water. Bass, bream, crappie, stripe and catfish can be caught along the banks. Mousetail Landing has primitive campgrounds as well as sites with hookups for overnight guests. The park has one day-use, three-mile trail. There is one overnight, eight-mile trail with two screened shelters. These back-country shelters have plywood bunks and each shelter sleeps eight people. Mousetail Landing State Park has 25 picnic tables with grills located throughout the park. There is one large pavilion that can accommodate 100 people available for rent along with a gazebo that is a often used for weddings. HOURS: 8am-4:30pm Source: Tennessee State Parks

Men's, women's and mixed doubles teams play in a round robin with modified scoring where every game won helps their overall "divisional teams" standing.
