The 2014 opening of City Winery is yet another sign that Nashville has arrived as a true multifaceted entertainment city — given the major metropolitan cities of New York City, Chicago, Atlanta and Boston are other outposts. The brainchild of Michael Dorf, founder of the heralded music venue Knitting Factory in NYC, City Winery was created to combine Dorf’s shared passions for wine and music. City Winery indeed will appeal to music lovers — the booking is top notch — as well as wine enthusiasts, with an in-house winery and a seasonal food menu meant to complement the wine in pairings. There are separate dinner and concert menus, the latter emphasizing globally influenced, locally sourced small plates. Service can be leisurely, so best not to be in a hurry when drinking or dining. Concerts have a separate admission charge.

Full bar. Serving dinner 5-10 pm Sun-Thu, 5-11 pm Fri-Sat. Sat-Sun brunch with live music 10:30 am-2 pm. Bar stays open one hour after kitchen closes. Food and drink specials 5-7 pm Mon-Fri. Music venue dining is typically available two hours prior to a show and during shows.

MUST EATS: Wild mushroom flatbread, Mediterranean small plate.
