A growing national collection of pizzerias first opened in Midtown Nashville in 2012, founder Scott DeSano’s critically acclaimed and wildly popular DeSano Pizzeria features authentic Napoletana thin-crust pizzas cranked out in about 90 seconds flat from massive wood-fired pizza ovens imported from Italy. This is not fast-serve pizza, though, by any means. The ingredients also are flown in from Italy, with the dough hand-kneaded and shaped in small batches. The open kitchen is a blur of activity — the dough flies in the air in ever-expanded discs — and youngsters learn to politely approach the chefs, who will slice off a small piece of raw dough to take back to the table for playtime while waiting for the pizza to be served.

Beer and wine available. Serving lunch and dinner 11 am until the dough runs out (about 10 pm) daily.
