Nashville Soccer Club

Nashville Soccer Club

Founded in 2016, Nashville Soccer Club is a Major League Soccer club set to begin play in 2020 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville Soccer Club began play in the United Soccer League (USL) and brought to the city what fans have yearned for, professional soccer. Kickoff on Nashville SC’s historic season began on February 10, 2018 when the club played host to MLS club, Atlanta United, at its home, First Tennessee Park, in a friendly. While Nashville ultimately lost the game 3-1, the club scored its first-ever goal, a one-touch strike from Ropapa Mensah.

Nashville SC has continued to build its fanbase in its inaugural season, averaging over 10,000 fans a game, while drawing over 18,000 to its two home games at Nissan Stadium. The atmosphere the home fans have created has been second to none in the USL as Nashville has made First Tennessee Park a fortress, drawing capacity crowds and providing exciting moments. A late season surge that included results in the last six games of the season clinched Nashville SC a playoff spot in its inaugural season. Nashville drew the top team in the USL, FC Cincinnati in the first round of the 2018 playoffs.

The game was thrilling as Nashville and Cincinnati played to a 0-0 draw over 90 minutes. Both teams scored in extra time in to set up penalty kicks to decide the winner. Nashville missed its final penalty kick to prevent the massive upset, but proved it could play toe-to-toe with the best in the league.
