Cocktails get the star treatment at the darkly lighted, invitingly modern speakeasy The Patterson House, from the folks who brought The Violet Hour to Chicago. Opened in spring 2009 in Midtown, it’s another offering from restaurant/nightclub auteur brothers Ben and Max Goldberg of Strategic Hospitality — including the much-acclaimed The Catbird Seat restaurant upstairs from The Patterson House. Besides the pricey but expertly crafted drinks, The Patterson satisfies in the kitchen with a short but substantive menu of small plates and upscale bar munchies. Expect a wait during peak hours, which is anything much past opening.

Full bar. Serving dinner until late night 4 pm-1 am Sun-Thu, 4 pm- 2 am Fri-Sat.
