Pepperfire Hot Chicken

First opened in 2010 and mercifully relocated after a lengthy dormancy in March 2022 to The Nations, founder-owner Isaac Beard’s popular Pepperfire Hot Chicken continues to rank among the top purveyors of the city’s most identifiable foodstuff. The heat levels go from Chicken (no heat) to No Refunds (all the heat we got), and the kitchen’s not fooling around with the latter. This is not a traditionalist’s joint: Chicken tenders get equal billing to the bone-in options.
