The Robertson County Historical Society was organized in 1968, with the museum opened to the public in 1998 in the location of the former 1916 Springfield Post Office.

The Society works to preserve and collect the history of Robertson County. The Society’s major project is the sponsorship of the Robertson County History Museum. Today, a very special group of people helps to carry on that work: The Society’s membership which consists of more than 200 members. Their support helps make it possible for the Society to continue collecting, cataloging and caring for the historical treasures of the county and to make them available to people of all ages.
