Founded in 2001, East Nashville restaurant pioneer Rosepepper Cantina works best as a Mexican bar and grill — emphasis on the bar. This is the place to go for a margarita or a shot of tequila, with more than 80 varieties of the latter. Specializing in Sonoran (sauce-based French- and Spanish-influenced) Mexican dishes, the kitchen shines with simpler fare such as chimichangas, flautas, tacos and burritos, each served in generous portions. Extra credit for the ever-changing, ever-clever signage.

Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner 11 am-2 pm and 4-9:30 pm Mon-Thu, lunch and dinner 11 am-10:30 pm Fri-Sat, 11 am-9:30 pm Sun. Happy hour specials 4-6 pm Mon-Fri.
