Warren County High School Booster Club
Project Graduation emerged in the early 1980s in the state of Maine, where back-to-back years of alcohol related accidents contributed to multiple deaths of high school graduates in the Oxford Hills area. The following year local authorities, parents, and school officials combined efforts to inform and educate students of the problems of drugs and alcohol. The seniors were offered an alternative to the “traditional” graduation night unsupervised party with a huge supervised event held at the local fair grounds. The story was covered by the news media and was adopted as a major program initiative of the Division of Alcohol and Drug Education Services across America. Since then participating High School’s across the nation have seen a significant decline in drug and alcohol related deaths on graduation night.
