Nashville Rep presents the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning play August Wilson’s Fences. Set in Pittsburgh in 1957, Fences follows 53-year-old Troy Maxson and his family. Once an amazing baseball player but unable to make the Major Leagues due to his race, Troy now works as a trash collector. August Wilson’s Fences explores the question “What happens to a dream deferred?” through one African American man’s struggle to support his wife and son during the restlessness of a time when slavery is over but the Civil Rights Movement has barely begun.
