The Beaker Street Blues Band, organized in 2004 in Nashville, TN is a six piece high energy group consisting of Gary Gilbert (Lead guitar), Gary Link (Bass guitar), Marshall Pearson (Drums), Joe Lamont (Keyboards), Chuck Schumacher (Sax, Harmonica) and Steve Smartt (Trumpet). All members sing. The players in the Beaker Street Blues Band are seasoned veterans having played many styles throughout their long careers. But, the love of blues is what has brought these guys together and sustained them through many years as a group.
Beaker Street is a real blues band, not a rock band playing some blues tunes. The audience is taken on a journey of blues styles from the 40’s up until today’s contemporary blues artists like Bernard Alison, Kim Wilson and others. BB King, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Albert Collins, Albert King, Ray Charles, The Band, Cream, and Joe Cocker are just a few of the iconic blues artists whose tunes are represented on the groups diverse song list along with a few originals. From the vast selection of blues tunes available, Beaker Street has chosen a repertoire that connects with people whether they are familiar with the songs or not. Blues is all about feel, and Beaker Street crowds feel what the players feel. This band energizes the crowd from the very first note played, to the last.
