Join The Battle of Franklin Trust for a comprehensive walking tour of the centermost portion of the Franklin battlefield. The tour focuses on many elements of the Battle of Franklin, explaining why it occurred, the arrival of the Federal and Confederate armies, and details of what became known as one of the greatest single assaults of the Civil War. The tour will take you to a number of locations on the field where crucial portions of the battle unfolded, from the Confederate breakthrough to the Federal defensive stand and counterassault. Walk along the Federal line, see the location of the former Carter cotton gin, visit the spot where Gen. Patrick Cleburne was killed, and see battlefield reclamation in progress.
Be aware this tour does not include a tour of Carter House. That ticket must be purchased separately. The Battlefield Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and takes place entirely outdoors. Please plan accordingly.
The tour begins at the Carter House visitor center at 1140 Columbia Avenue, Franklin TN 37064. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour time.
