Presented by Trevecca Nazarene University at Zelma Waggoner Black Box Theatre

For the last few decades, an ongoing project of Trevecca Theatre in the TNU Department of Communication Studies has been to help foster regular opportunities for our students to create brand new work for the stage. Over time, Nashville has seen local professional theatre organizations lean in this direction as well, most notably the Ingram New Works Festival at Nashville Rep, the Women’s Work Festival at the Tennessee Women’s Theater Project, and the Tennessee Playwright’s Studio.

While Trevecca’s dramatic arts students train to produce professional, compelling interpretations of existing work by established playwrights, our emphasis on developing creative, new work has resulted in original, professional screenplays and films, professional staged readings of new plays at festivals and competitions, and nationally award-winning plays written by Trevecca graduates in theatre.  Our graduates are amazing!

Join later this month for more new works written by our theatre students at our annual festival, MOSAIC. Help us support original plays written by our emerging playwrights, and support the performing arts!
