A great actor can play anything, but knowing how you’ll be perceived and categorized by an agent or casting director and how to play to those strengths is one of the greatest assets for a working actor. From understanding your unbiased type for film or theatre, to mastering the cold read, and making strong “into type” or “against type” choices for monologues and scene work.
N&XT 4-Week Acting Workshop is meant for any actor with the desire to better understand their work in the audition room and how to take advantage of first impressions and their type.
The Workshop will be held in a comfortable, private studio in Germantown and will be limited to 12 participants to optimize one-on-one time and personal focus from the instructor.
WEEK 1: The Audition
Date: September 1st, 2015
Discover how you fit into a type immediately in the eyes of a Casting Director or Agent and how to work with that information to your advantage.
WEEK 2: The Cold Read
Date: September 8th, 2015
Many actors are terrified of the cold read, but it can be one of your greatest allies in an audition. Working with or against how you will be type cast can bring this skill to a whole new level.
WEEK 3: The Monologue or The Scene I
Date: September 15th, 2015
You will explore a monologue or scene with the information you have collected from the past two sessions. Learn to indulge your initial impulses and make quick, expressive decisions.
WEEK 4: The Monologue or The Scene II
Date: September 22nd, 2015
You and/or your scene partner will present again after having an opportunity to put in some work on the text with the information you have gained from the previous sessions.
WEEK 5: The Headshot
(Optional: Additional $150)
Date: September 29th, 2015
I have partnered with international fashion, celebrity, and editorial photographer Sebastian Smith (http://www.sebsmith.com) to offer a headshot package at reduced fee to actors participating in this workshop. Sebastian has shot for Cosmopolitan Magazine, SEPHORA, L’Officiel Italy, LOOK UK, WWD, Valentino Red, Details Magazine, Vera Wang, and MCA Records to name a few. This is a rare opportunity to get in front of his camera and learn put what you have learned about your “type” to immediate work for you as well as receive feedback on your images.
