The power lunch — and, increasingly, the power breakfast — is alive and well at owner Randy Rayburn’s casual fine dining spot Midtown Cafe, tucked just off Broadway and forming a convenient midway point for the music and university communities and the downtown business crowd. With the meeting-friendly breakfast and brunch a now well-established offering, the smallish restaurant’s always-busy lunch crowd makes way for an eclectic mix of diners at night to enjoy a tried-and-true menu of seasonal offerings and perennial favorites. The intimate bar is worth a visit for a pre-dinner cocktail. Many patrons take advantage of the free shuttle service to downtown arts and entertainment events.
