Since our new blog gives us a little more leeway on how we categorize the events on the NowPlayingNashville.com website, we thought a new and somewhat different twist on how to celebrate the New Year was in order. Rather than simply listing them all out, we’ve sorted some of them situationally. To find a full list of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day events, please visit NowPlayingNashville.com’s New Years Eve page.

So what do we mean by situationally? Well, are you single? Coupled up? New to Nashville? Had a great year? Had a HORRIBLE year? Whatever your situation, we’ve got you covered. Enjoy Your Situational Guide to Ringing in the New Year in Nashville!

Is it your first Nashville New Year’s Eve?

As a new Nashvillian, you MUST do the downtown experience at the Jack Daniel’s Bash on Broadway with Gavin DeGraw, The Apache Relay, Kristen Capolino & Lady Antebellum. What’s more fun than standing on the streets of Broadway, watching the Music Note drop among thousands of people? Plus this year will be HISTORICAL, MONUMENTAL … No EPIC, since Charles Esten will host the bi-coastal televised celebration for the Central Time Zone of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015” here in Nashville.  It will air on Wednesday, December 31 beginning at 8pm ET/PT on ABC Television Network.

Are you Single and Ready to Mingle?

Whether you are recently single or have been all year long, you might find a few of these hot events the place to meet someone new. The  Totally Rad: NYE 3D at the Greenhouse Bar in Green Hills is always a happening place to see old friends and meet new ones on New Year’s Eve. If you’re looking for something more elegant, then why not try the New Year’s Eve Celebration at The Standard. It’s a 1840’s town-home adorned with chandeliers and a grand ballroom. The theme is roaring 20s this year!

Coupled Up?

If you’re coupled up this year, then you might enjoy a night out at Gaylord Opryland’s Annual New Year’s Eve Dance Party. Some of Nashville’s hottest DJs will be spinning music, and it comes complete with party favors and a midnight champagne toast. Another great event for couples to kick off their boots is The Sutler’s Jingle-Boot Rock. This New Year’s Eve celebration will feature live music by Wooly Bully, dancing, drinks and dinner buffet.

Are you the ultimate Concert-Goer?

This year, you have multiple choices for New Year’s Eve concert events in Nashville (as if that was any different …we are Music City after all). Old Crow Medicine Show is playing its annual show at The Ryman Auditorium this New Year’s Eve, and Bassnectar is returning for yet again another sold-out show at Bridgestone Arena.

But if you want to avoid the crowds from these concerts, then some of these smaller venues/shows might suit you best: Moon Taxi at War Memorial Auditorium, Guilty Pleasures at Cannery Ballroom or St. Paul and the Broken Bones at Marathon Music Works.

Need a break from the kiddos?

Get a babysitter. Then plan for an early dinner somewhere downtown and make an early night of it with the Nashville Symphony at its New Year’s Eve Celebration. OR you can spend it with Lady Antebellum at a private pre-NYE Bash that benefits the LadyAID Fund. It ends around 9:30pm, so you will be back before Midnight.

Want to spend New Year with the kids?

The Adventure Science Center does a Happy Noon Year celebration each year. It’s a great way for families with younger children to celebrate the New Year together, but not staying up all night!

Had the WORST YEAR EVER?

Step back to 1995, where flannel shirts and ripped jeans were once the fad and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” was on TV, at the My So-Called Band: Champagne Supernova concert at Cannery Ballroom. The days where songs like Britney Spears “OH Baby … Baby” filled your head, and you dressed like the girls from Clueless (or was that just me and my friends?). It was some of the best years of my your life!

Loved 2014 and ready to move into 2015?

If you had a year that you’re content with and ready to rock it out into 2015, then my suggestion would be to do a little Time Traveling this New Year’s Eve at the 4D New Year’s Eve Party at Mercy Lounge, where the past and the future collide. It’s trans-dimensional!

Newly Engaged?

Lastly, if you’re newly engaged like me or needing to save on the cash this New Year’s Eve, settle in for a night at the house with some of your closest friends and watch “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015” on TV. Whatever you decide to do this New Year’s Eve, make it one for the books!
