For the June Artist Spotlight, we are highlighting Molly Tuttle, an award-winning guitarist and 2018 “Instrumentalist of the Year” of the Americana Music Awards. The 26-year-old just released a new album, When You’re Ready, that came out in April. We will be discussing this new album and asking her about her upcoming performance at this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on Thursday, June 13. She will be playing on the Grand Ole Opry stage at That Tent from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
Thanks for joining us Molly on the NowPlayingNashville Artist Spotlight.
I always loved music. My dad is a musician and hearing him play when I was a kid inspired me to pick up the guitar.
My dad was my first music teacher. I started on guitar and he would show me simple melodies and chords. After a few years of playing, I started becoming obsessed with music and began to perform locally in California.
This will be my first time at Bonnaroo!! I’m soooo excited to take the stage for the Opry set and I’m already scheming how I can make it back to the fest to enjoy music the rest of the weekend. I really want to see Childish Gambino, Solange, Cardi B and the National but the whole lineup is incredible.
It felt really cool! I love the Americana Music Association and so many of my favorite musicians are involved in that every year, so it was a big honor to be recognized.
Molly moved to Nashville in 2015 and co-wrote all 11 tracks featured on her latest album, When You’re Ready, right here in Music City.
It’s a group of songs I’ve written in the past couple years since my EP came out in 2017. It’s a pretty personal album. Each of the songs has a different emotion and personality, so I think the message of the album is to embrace all parts of life.

I’m touring with a new band! It’s been a lot of fun playing the new material live and feeling the response from new and old fans.
