Sunday at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. included highlights from the Grand Ole Opry, Future, Dua Lipa, Broken Social Scene, food scene, and the Bonnaroo Arch. Here are Sunday’s Top Moments of the Day (in no particular order):
Grand Ole Opry
The Grand Ole Opry brought its original two-hour set to Bonnaroo on Sunday night. Taking the stage for this performance included Old Crow Medicine Show, Del McCoury Band, Riders in the Sky, Nikki Lane, Bobby Bare and many others. Bobby Bare, who is celebrating 60 years in the music business, had the crowd screaming along to “Marie Laveau” and led Del McCoury and Old Crow Medicine Show on “Streets of Baltimore.” Stated in a recent press release, Bare said, “When you’ve been at it as long as I have, it’s kind of exciting to do two of the biggest festivals in the world on the same day. Bonnaroo, what a deal — a younger audience and very, very exciting. They had a lot of great talent on it, and we had a big time.”
Broken Social Scene
“As they opened up with a dynamic “KC Accidental,” the crowd swayed along with the song’s vacillating energy. The group packed as much music as they could in their set’s allotted hour, ranging from earlier hits such as “Texico Bitches” to “Protest Song” from their latest record, “Hug of Thunder.” Drew proclaimed that their performance of the melancholy “Anthems” would be dedicated to Kate Spade, the popular handbag entrepreneur who took her own life last week. ‘You are not alone,’ he told the crowd. ‘Pain is real, and we’ve got to help each other through the struggle.’,” writes Hayden Goodridge, MTSU Seigenthaler News Service.
Food Scene at Bonnaroo
We tried all types of food, ranging from Indian cuisine to the best mouth-watering doughnuts. Bonnaroo is filled with eccentric food. There is your typical fair foods from funnel cakes, chicken-on-a-sticks and corndogs. But they have vendors come in from all over to provide unique tastes for Bonnaroovians. Pictured above are the makings for a chicken Philly sandwich.
“Future’s lively presence fired up the huge crowd on the festival’s closing night at the What Stage. Fans were bouncing to bangers such as “Bugatti,” “Low Life,” and “Jumpman,” writes Victoria Leuang, MTSU Seigenthaler News Service. Read the full article here.
The 2018 Bonnaroo Arch
Each year, the Bonnaroo Arch has a different theme, color and design. Pink seemed to be the overarching theme – pink bandanas, pink refill cups and a pink arch. For this pink-lover, I was in heaven.
