Bongo Java - Belmont
Former journalist and transplanted Chicagoan Bob Bernstein opened Nashville’s now-oldest independent coffee shop Bongo Java way back in 1993 in the hip Belmont/Hillsboro Village neighborhood. Since then Bernstein has done his best to keep Nashville’s java junkies full of local options beyond the giant Seattle chain the green logo, with sister Hillsboro Village spot Fido, a roasting company, and several other establishments from which to choose. Breakfast is served all day, with any number of satisfying and health-conscious options for lunch and dinner. Upstairs at Bongo is an intimate theater and music venue, the separately run Bongo After Hours Theatre.
No alcohol available. Open 7 am-10 pm daily.
MUST EATS: Egg McBongo, build your own bagel bomb, quinoa and veggie bowl, soups, fancy grilled cheese.
