Neighbor 2 Neighbor

Since 1997, Neighbor 2 Neighbor (N2N) has equipped residents and neighborhood organizations with the tools they need to build safer and more vibrant neighborhoods. N2N was created by neighborhood leaders for local neighborhoods. We are a local nonprofit and nonpartisan organization. We envision a city of connected communities where residents know their neighbors and work together to preserve and improve their neighborhoods. We equip residents and neighborhood organizations with the tools they need to build safer and more vibrant neighborhoods. We foster community collaboration to create and sustain healthy neighborhoods, from neighborhood groups and associations to community based organizations, government offices, businesses and faith-based organizations. We strive to facilitate conversations among Nashvillians about what it means to be a good neighbor and live in a great neighborhood. We strengthen the capacity of neighborhood-based organizations and supports grassroots leadership through training and mentoring. We recognize that neighborhoods are diverse in nature and have a rich quality of life due to the collective gifts, talents and vision of the residents. Oasis Center

In 1969, a group of young lawyers came together to establish the “Rap House,” a simple community center for runaway teens and youth struggling with addictions. Fifty years later, the “Rap House” has evolved into Oasis Center, where nearly 4,000 youth and families turn for help and direct support every year. Oasis Center provides a wide range of opportunities that reflect the diverse needs of youth and their families, from crisis intervention to youth leadership and community engagement to college and career access. Our 20+ programs and services are based on the foundation of four areas for youth success – Safety, Belonging, Empowerment, and Generosity. Preston Taylor Ministries - Hal and Martha Wilson Center

Preston Taylor Ministries (PTM) empowers Preston Taylor children and youth to discover and live their God-inspired dreams, develop a love for learning, and build joy-filled friendships that glorify Christ Jesus. PTM was founded in 1998 to confront many of the problems present in the Preston Taylor public housing area, problems like drug use, gang involvement, teenage pregnancy, illiteracy, poor school performance and crime. In order to provide hope for children and families living in this environment, PTM sponsors several avenues for building life-changing relationships. At PTM, it’s about relationships.

Richland Park on Charlotte Pike in the Sylvan Park neighborhood has wide-open grassy fields, tennis courts, and a playground. It's also home to the Richland Park Branch of the Nashville Public Library, The Cohn Learning Center, the popular Richland Park Farmer's Market, as well as special events.

Established in 1971, there are two local parks in Portland, Richland Park and Meadowbrook Park. The City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational services, programs and special events for the community. Richland Park, an active park, offers a community center, gymnasium, public swimming pool, paved and lighted hike and bike trail, soccer fields, football fields, baseball fields, softball fields, lighted basketball court, picnic shelters and playgrounds. Meadowbrook Park is a more passive park, with a walking trail, picnic shelters, lighted basketball court, lighted tennis courts, and a lighted skate park. Source: park website

Rocketown

Founded by contemporary Christian music artist Michael W. Smith, Rocketown of Middle Tennessee is a faith-based youth outreach facility in the heart of downtown Nashville. Rocketown was founded in 1994 as a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization, a Public Benefit Corporation. The Ministry: The volunteers and staff approach working with youth is holistic, with programs and services nurturing the mind, body and spirit. Youth are engaged through attraction-based facilities and programs like the Sixth Avenue Skatepark, live music and event venue, dance classes, recording studios, coffee shop, Rocketown's Assisted Meal Program (RAMP), summer camps, and afterschool academic enrichment and creative arts programs. Once youth are engaged and have become part of the Rocketown community, staff introduce them to more ministry-centered programs like Skate Church and Family Dinner gatherings. Salvation Army - Magness-Potter Community Center

The Magness-Potter Community Center coordinates 15–20 collaborating private and public social service providers offering a spectrum of essential services – from infant-toddler child care to senior citizen activities – to this community of more than 10,000 people. Target populations are economically disadvantaged families and at-risk youth living in ZIP code 37207. Magness-Potter serves more than 500 families and 2,500 individuals per year. Senior Citizens Center of Hendersonville

Community Center

Initially chartered in 1986, Senior Citizens Center of Hendersonville began meeting once a month at a local retirement home. We rapidly grew and 1993 we attained a new 9,500 sq ft building; the bad news was that same year a large portion of the building was condemned. Many seniors, businesses, organizations, and individuals from the community banded together, donated money and time to clean up and revamp the Center and in October 1993 we reopened! Source: website

Sevier Park Community Center has a long history as a welcoming place for children and adults to gather and play in the heart of one of Nashville's most beautiful parks. The new center serves as the centerpiece for Sevier Park, and offer the many great amenities that our regional recreation centers have become known for. The center is home to a new gymnasium with an upper level walking track, a dance/movement room, a fitness center, and community meeting space.

Shelby Park is a large, urban multi-use park along the Cumberland River featuring river views; migratory bird and other wildlife viewing opportunities; playgrounds; a fenced off-leash dog park; adult and youth softball fields; the Old Timers adult baseball fields; 9 and 18 hole golf courses; Sevier Lake, popular for casual fishing; a Cumberland River boat launch ramp; several reservable picnic shelters; and the Shelby Park Community Center which offers free programs as well as basketball, tennis and multi-use courts. The South Guthrie Community Center ( 5025 Guthrie Road ) is located at the Kentucky state border in the Warfield community. The site was the former Warfield School built in 1922 with Rosenwald School funds. The site serves as the home of the South Guthrie Improvement Association.
