The Center for Sustainable Stewardship offers authentic natural experiences in a unique watershed, and offers education and fellowship for those learning, practicing, and teaching the preservation of our natural heritage. We understand that a strengthened connection with nature increases wellness of mind and body, even as it creates community. By protecting the land we create a legacy for future generations. Visitors are invited to learn from our local community so that they may improve the sustainability of their own communities. We are a member-supported 501(c)3 nonprofit nestled within the valley created by Big East Fork Creek, a tributary of the South Harpeth River. The 713-acre campus of Center for Sustainable Stewardship is located in a conservation easement which, with your help, we seek to enlarge and build structures for meeting and education. CSS operates a small farm on several acres shared with our menagerie of friendly animals, green houses and a community garden. The CSS Adventure Center lends bicycles and watercraft to its members and supporters. The Center for Sustainable Stewardship (CSS) plans to grow our membership and to increase awareness for watershed protection. Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse & Cat Sanctuary cares for senior horses and senior cats that would be considered at risk of neglect or abuse if left in their current situation. Most often, they will be considered special needs, and require a great deal of time and resources to care for, but still have a good quality of life, making them appropriate for sanctuary care. Upon arrival an assessment of their physical, mental and emotional status will be conducted. Once brought into the program, they will remain in permanent sanctuary care for the rest of his/her life. Ferrell Hollow Farm is nestled between rolling hills on 70 peaceful acres in Middle Tennessee and is a 501c3 charitable organization. The sanctuary is not open to the public except during special events. Your donations are tax deductible. Ongoing financial support is necessary to assist the sanctuary in giving these seniors what they need in their well-deserved retirement. The farm is privately owned and operated by Cindy Myers. Gentry's Farm

Gentry's Farm Our historic working farm is located in the gently rolling hills of Franklin, Tennessee. The seventh-generation farm has been owned by our family for over 165 years. In recent years we have diversified our farming efforts to include pick-your-own pumpkins and growing hay as well as raising beef cattle. We also rent some of the nearly 400 acres to farmers who own combines and row crop winter wheat, corn, and soybeans. Our main focus is to offer educational programs for school groups in the fall and the spring and we also offer a down-to-earth fun summer day camp. Hayshed Farms is located on fertile, creek bottom land. Farming is done the old-fashioned way, by rotating crops, planting what grows best in soil that has been carefully nurtured and selecting varieties of plants that do well in our environment. In addition to more traditional row-cropping, Hayshed Farms is a place for people to experience a sustainable way of life in action. Throughout the farm, there are various recycled and repurposed projects that our visitors will encounter. We see these as educational platforms through which we can talk with our guests about responsible stewardship of land and natural resources. We also offer several agritourism programs that the public can enjoy with us. Part of the farm is land that has been in the Liles Family for decades, and more was added after the big flood of 2010. The hayshed, a magnificent pole barn that sits overlooking the creek stands as a landmark for the local fisherman; when they wanted to get together and fish for some red horse and suckers in the spring, they'd say, "Meet me at the hayshed." The hayshed was built by the Welch family, the previous owners, who farmed the land for hay while raising Tennessee walking horses for many decades. The creek meanders through the farm and empties into the Harpeth River at a point known as "The Mouth of Turnbull" to the locals and tourists that float the river. Currently, the land is a working farm raising row crops, blackberries, herbs, flowers and seasonal vegetables while also offering space for events and overnight glamping getaways! Source: website
