This is one of Nashville's most respected venues for live music offering anything from Rock to Country, Blues to Americana. For over 20 years, Douglas Corner has been one of Nashville's premier live music and showcase venues. An industry haunt where established artists, songwriters and up-and-comers gather, names such as Garth Brooks, Jon Bon Jovi, and Cheap Trick have all played at the Douglas Corner. This is the site for the Keith Whitley "No Stranger to the Rain" video. Also, the Douglas Corner Cafe houses an in-house studio and production facility.

3rd and Lindsley

One of Nashville's favorite music venues & restaurants, with two different musical acts performing on any given night of the week, the bar and grill at 3rd and Lindsley always has something to intrigue your ears and satisfy your appetite. The stage is open to a mix of genres, including rock, R&B, Americana, soul, blues, and alternative bringing live music to Nashville from all over the globe. As Ron Brice tells the story, he and his buddies were near-daily lunch patrons of a south-of downtown Mexican restaurant when one day they show up and find the place padlocked. So the affable Detroit transplant decided to buy the joint and turn it into a combination neighborhood bar, restaurant and nightclub. More than a quarter-century later, Brice has the same kitchen manager and same doorman from the opening of his 3rd and Lindsley, so named for its location on the corner of Third Avenue South and Lindsley Avenue. Musical bookings feature a combination of up-and-coming and veteran Americana, rock, country, soul and blues acts, with the regular Monday night headliners The Time Jumpers among the top draws in Music City (most definitely buy tickets in advance). A lengthy menu offers a who’s who and what’s what of rib-sticking bar food staples. Full bar.

404 Bar and Grill

South Nashville’s 404 Bar and Grill features lots of TV screens for sports viewing, as well as live music several nights at week. Full bar. Open 4 pm-3 am Mon-Thu, 11 am-3 am Fri-Sun.

AJ's Good Time Bar

AJ's Good Time Bar is owned by Country Music Superstar Alan Jackson and was recently voted the number one honky tonk in Nashville by Billboard Magazine. The bar carries on the tradition of the best downtown honky tonks with the kind of country music that made Nashville famous. Just steps away from the Historic Ryman Auditorium and walking distance from the Country Music Hall of Fame, this venue features three multi-faceted floors and a roof top bar with the most stunning view of the city. Housed in the oldest building on Broadway this historical venue was once, among other things, a civil war hospital, Nashville's first used record store and the home of the famous Bullet Records. Today each floor offers a unique look into Alan’s career and personal life while featuring some of the best live country music in town.

Billing itself as Nashville’s original gin mill and tucked away on downtown’s Historic Printers Alley, Alley Taps aims to be the quieter live music alternative to the bachelorette parties and pedal taverns that crisscross Lower Broad and environs. Betty's Grill

Betty’s Grill has been around a lot longer than the West Nashville neighborhood started gentrifying and being called The Nations. Safe to say there’s at least one place you can go to smoke, drink cold beer and enjoy a pretty fine cheeseburger without the anxiety of pretending to behave yourself. There’s live music on a regular basis and a great jukebox. Cash only. Admission age 21 and over since smoking is allowed. Beer available. Open noon-3 am daily.

CLOSED INDEFINITELY DUE TO CHRISTMAS 2020 BOMBING ON HISTORIC 2ND AVENUE Music City may be known for country music, but at downtown's The Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar — Nashville’s only dueling piano bar — you’ll hear everything from Billy Joel to Britney Spears and Journey to Justin Bieber right alongside those country classics. in late July 2018, Big Bang took up temporary residence at Dick's Last Resort on Historic Second Avenue while awaiting another home on Lower Broadway. Cannery Ballroom (CLOSED)

THIS NIGHTCLUB IS CLOSED Cannery Ballroom resides in Nashville's Historic Cannery building. Built in 1883, the Cannery was originally a flour mill and later a place to grind coffee. The building earned it's name when the Dale Food company bought it in 1957 and began processing food (jams, jellies, mustard, mayonnaise, peanut butter, etc.) eventually opening a restaurant called "The Cannery" in the early 1970s. The building housed a country music theatre in the late 70s and evolved into one of Nashville's primary music venues in the 80s and early 90s. Jimmy Cliff, Jane's Addiction, Iggy Pop, Lenny Kravitz, Midnight Oil, Greg Allman, Robin Trower among other touring acts of the time played the Cannery. The Cannery Ballroom has also been renovated with new hardwood floors, large tiled bathrooms and a standing room capacity of 1,000. It is open only for concerts and special events.

Long-awaited combination retro bowling alley, diner, and music performance venue, Eastside Bowl in Madison is nothing less than a feast for the senses. From former The Cannery complex co-owner Chark Kinsolving and ex-The Family Wash proprietor Jamie Rubin, the complex boasts a state-of-the-art, 16-lane bowling alley with a new hyper-bowling concept and balls that resemble oversized billiard balls. Chark's Laneside Diner features a menu curated by former Boundry chef Michael Cribbs and offerings that include the shepherd’s pie so beloved at Rubin’s The Family Family Wash in bygone years in East Nashville. Other options include flatbread pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and salads. Exit/In has stood at 2208 Elliston Place since 1971, is the anchor of Elliston Place and reason the strip is known as The Rock Block. Exit/In is locally, independently, and family owned and operated. The history and cultural importance cannot be overstated. Take one look at the Wall Of Fame, on the front of the building, to begin understanding the magnitude of the performances that have taken place at the storied club.
