TEMPORARILY CLOSED Centennial Performing Arts Stud...
Statement from Centennial Park Conservancy:
For the safety of our community, staff, and Metro Parks colleagues all Metro Parks facilities in Centennial Park, including the Parthenon, Centennial Performing Arts Center, and the Centennial Arts Center, will be closed until April 6. We are committed to doing our part to flatten the curve of COVID-19 in this evolving crisis. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you soon!
The Cultural Arts Department offers a wide variety of opportunities to experience the arts through Dance, Theater, Music, and Visual Arts. A majority of the performing-arts classes take place in the Centennial Performing Arts Studios located in Centennial Park, where there are typically three sessions offered per year (Winter, Summer, Fall).
Across the park at the corner of 25th Ave. and Park Plaza the Centennial Art Center (CAC) offers a Fine Art Gallery, as well as adult-level classes in the visual arts. CAC’s class schedule is online under the Visual Arts classes.
The CAC is open to the public Monday-Thursday from 9pm to 5pm in Centennial Park. The gallery area inside opens with a new exhibition the first Friday of every other month held between the hours of 5pm-7pm. The visual artists that are displayed are local artists from the Tennessee area, most from Middle Tennessee, and their art pieces are for sale as well as viewing.
The outside courtyard is open to the public when the CAC is open to the public. It is a beautiful outdoor space that can be rented for special events.
For those who are more inclined to enjoy the arts from the audience, they have many performances scheduled through the year, both in their own performance venues (Z. Alexander Looby Theater, Centennial Black Box Theater), and in various other locations throughout the Parks system.
