Carpenter’s Square is a ministry of the Woodbine Family Church of Christ created to “fill the gap” and aid in the development of young adults. Specifically, it targets those that have graduated high school and are making a huge step into adulthood. It is during this period of time that many of these teens don’t continue education, become non-productive, and fall into the temptations of the world. Many of these young adults are first generation Christians as well as first generation graduates, so the cards are stacked up against them already. Carpenter’s Square wants to focus on these young adults. The goal is to mentor them and assist them with housing and employment while they learn a trade or skill or even attend college. The concept is dorm style housing in a Christian environment which provides accountability for these young adults while they continue their education, work, and pay for this housing at a reduced cost. Other goals of Carpenters Square include a nursery and preschool for the single mothers/families in the community and retail shops where the young adults can work. The Christian presence of Carpenter’s Square in this community will be impactful in many ways. It’s important to note that there are no other ministries like Carpenter’s Square in the entire Nashville area.
