The Frist Art Museum was conceived as a family-friendly place and one of the most popular locations in the center is the innovative Martin ArtQuest Gallery. It’s a colorful space alive with the sounds of learning through making art! ArtQuest activities abound for people of all ages. With 30 interactive stations, and the assistance of knowledgeable staff and volunteers, ArtQuest teaches through activity. Make a print, paint your own original watercolor, create your own colorful sculpture! It’s all there in ArtQuest, and it’s free with gallery admission for adults and always free for youth 18 and under.
While at the Frist Art Museum, be sure to stop by the Frist Art Museum’s beautiful Gift Shop. There, you’ll find a fabulous array of art prints, books, educational materials, art supplies, clothing, blown glass, pottery, and magnificent jewelry made by local and regional artisans. Items are available in a wide range of prices, so there’s always something to fit your budget. Because much of the merchandise relates to the Frist Art Museum’s exhibitions, the array changes often. No wonder it’s often called the best gift shop in Nashville. Discounts for Frist Art Museum members can make it a bargain hunter’s dream!

The Frist Art Museum will reopen June 22 with an initial members-only period. With continued improvement/stability, the exhibition galleries will reopen to the general public on July 1 with required advance timed ticketing.
The higher-touch areas in the building, including the Martin ArtQuest Gallery, café, gift shop, and auditorium will remain closed, and there will be no group tours in the first stage of reopening. Some public programs, such as virtual tours, lectures, and other events, will continue to be offered online-only.
In an effort to create a contactless visitor experience and promote effective physical distancing, advance timed tickets, which allow for scheduled viewing of the exhibitions, will be required and available for purchase exclusively on FristArtMuseum.org during the first stage of the Frist’s reopening.
After the initial members-only reopening period concludes on June 30, the Frist Art Museum will offer members dedicated hours on Thursdays and Saturdays starting Thursday, July 2. These temporary members-only hours will be on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon through Saturday, September 5. J.M.W. Turner: Quest for the Sublime closes Monday, September 7. Advance timed tickets will still be required and are available at FristArtMuseum.org/tickets.
