Lipscomb University - Longview Mansion

Longview Mansion of Lipscomb University. The turn-of-the-twentieth century Neoclassical Revival-style mansion was the home of James E. Caldwell, found of the Bell Telephone System in the South and a prominent Nashville businessman. The current building evolved in three stages from a modest pre-Civil War one-story farmhouse to an Italianate two-story brick house as the result of a remodeling by Caldwell around 1878, and finally into the present grand three-story stuccoed Beaux Arts mansion following extensive alterations and additions by Caldwell in 1906.
