World renowned and a Green Hills nightclub mainstay since 1982, The Bluebird Cafe requires planning and patience if you want to hear some of the world’s best singer-songwriters in a gloriously intimate setting. (Prepare to be shushed by the wait staff if you speak much beyond a whisper.) Due in part to its regular storyline on the “Nashville” TV show, the 90-seat club now has an audience with tourists outnumbering townies on many nights. Thus the “How to Make Reservations” section of the website is a must-visit with the exception of Sundays and Mondays, which are first-come, first served. From Tuesday through Saturday a few rows of church pews and bar seats remain first-come, first-served, so there’s always a chance and getting in the door. And the opening set, which features lesser-known but still immensely talented acts, sells out less quickly. Live music nightly, with a cover charge for the late show and food and drink minimums.

The Bluebird Cafe Statement:
We, at The Bluebird Cafe, have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our venue effective March 13-31st. We have been monitoring the news and recommendations from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and feel this is the most appropriate course of action to keep our songwriters, audience members, and staff both healthy and safe.
Due to our venue’s small size, we feel this is the only surefire way to do so. As songwriter Don Schlitz once wrote, “you have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them.” Over the next two weeks, we will be evaluating the CDC’s information as well as updates from Nashville city health officials and hope to be able to reopen our doors next month.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times. Please know that we would be open, enjoying wonderful songs and stories with all of you if we felt it was safe for everyone.
Please check our website and social media channels for further updates.
